Vancouver Parks
Personal tool for exploring parks around Vancouver BC
Project Overview
Vancouver Parks was a tool I thought of while I was walking around the beautiful city in British Columbia. Vancouver has over 200 city parks, all with their own unique features. This app was designed to help locals and visitors find parks that fit their needs, whether that was a small picnic with a view or playing a game of basketball.

Ideation
Since I had never created a mobile application before, I decided to take the Google Professional UX/UI Certificate program so that I had an idea of how to get started with designing a good quality application. Below are initial sketches.

Mock ups
Mock ups had to be designed before I could really start coding. I learned from previous projects just how important it is to have a clear picture that I can constantly come back to to work with. I used Figma, Adobe XD, and Adobe Illustrator to come up with the designs.
Coding
Since I have an iPhone I decided it would be best to learn Swift with Xcode. I would be learning Swift from scratch but since I’ve already been coding for years learning the syntax wouldn’t be too hard. It took about 9 months of solo development to get it to the beta state it is currently in. If you would like to view or test the beta you can view the link below to download Apple’s Testflight and the beta application.
